On the Bright Side

Ive found a new passtime to keep me occupied. With the potential of surgery lingering, I do not wana take any more risks riding my bike (which I was doing during my healing time). So to take things down a bit, I have taken up disc golf. It’s just like regular golf, but played with a specially made frisbee. There are different types of discs for different shots, just like you would have different clubs in golf. My set (so far) comprises of: 2 putters, 2 mid range, and 4 drivers. I had one more driver last weekend, but I pitched it into the water off the 9th hole at the Toronto Island Disc Golf Course.

Myself and Andres took it upon ourselves to check out the Courses within the GTA area. So far we’ve played Brampton, and Mississauga. So far the Brampton course is my fav, winding through a mature Maple forest, makes for some tricky, technical shots. Point in case below. Birdie on the 2nd hole.

Still Broken

After 3 months of “healing” my clavicle is still pretty broken. Bummer.

By the looks of things, I will probably have to get surgery.

New bike parts!!!!

pricepoint.com has some amazing deals. And i took advantage. Since i broke myself, I dont plan on jumping again until next season. Till then im gonna be rocking the gears on my bike. I grabbed a bunch of 2008 sram components to slap on my rig.  Just like that instant 4X bike. Im stoaked.

Lets take a look at the good ol days. Flying through the air.

I am human after all

1 week agao today, It was a gorgeous day out. I could not resist, and decided to take my bike out for a leisurley spin. Here I am, taking it easy on the trails. A bit of mud here and there, no biggie. Next thing i know, im on thr ground, in agony. I took a corner perfectly (well what would have been perfectly if there wasnt a puddle of mud in there). I washed out and tumbled to the ground.

End result, broken collar bone. I’m not in pain anymore. But its just a reminder, I am still human, and must make proper judgements taking that into consideration.

I’m just glad it happened early on in the season. I’ll be back on the bike in no time.

In between seasons are a downer

Canada’s seasons are great. Except the in between.

The activities I do are very reliant of the seasons. I snowboard and mountain, bike. But here I am, its the 22 of March, and the snowboarder in me has had enough, and the biker in me is getting antsy.

Due to where we are in the season, i just cant feed the craving to bike. Ive ridden around on the pavement, and its just not the same.

I need dirt, forest, tight single track. That’s what really gets the adrenaline flowing. Unfortunately, the trails are in the process of drying. This in between time really sucks. But the thing that gets me most, is here i am, holding back, not going to ride the trails, because I know i will wreck them, by rutting them all up. It happens anyway (of course), but it really pisses me off knowing that there are people in there right now. It just makes more work for everyone, these people that ride in there when they shouldn’t, of course they don’t know any better. But i sure do try to spread the word. There are some dedicated builders in the don, and i love the work they do. But to make more work for these people is just disrespectful.

anyway, my quick post turned into an all out rant.

end rant.

Gorgeous night for a bike ride. A little slick in places. But nothing we couldn’t handle.
